The below photos, one of me holding my bra and the other of my best friend holding his binder, act as the representation of gender as a spectrum. As subjects, we articulate the fluidity of gender between ourselves and how much we have learned about gender because of each other. Throughout my work, I explore the vulnerable and intimate role of gender in my relationships with myself and other people.

By mirroring each other in body language, I highlight the similarities between the subjects as individuals but the binary that is created by the use of the two different undergarments is what separates our lived experiences and external representation in society. My photography focuses on current social issues that affect me and/or the people I am closest with. Photography is a cathartic way of processing my world in a way that describes the intersectional layers of a person’s life.
