Putting together this playlist was… too easy??? Your girl loves a challenge but, as it turns out, I’ve been mostly listening to female artists in 2018. I know this industry can feel like an uphill climb, especially when it comes to getting credit for the work women put into music and production behind the scenes, so I’m happy to gas up some ladies who are making great shit. I included Rico Nasty, Lolo Zouai, Smerz, Let’s Eat Grandma (The name itself should tell you you’re dealing with a band working on another level.), Ama Lou, Soccer Mommy (One of the songs I chose from her is a Springsteen cover–you have to be really fucking good to make that work in your favor, and she did.), King Princess, Tierra Whack (Whack World is hands down one of the greatest creative projects released in the social media era. She’s a genius.), Slayyyter, and Suzi Wu. <3
